A security management backbone allows all types of sensors, devices and analyzers to be connected  to nodes which are interconnected through a single set of cables or other communication means to form the backbone.

The purpose is to allow management and security personnel a complete picture of all aspects affecting the safety and security of the enterprise in a selectable and user friendly way.

Software and Electronics Laboratories was the first to develop such a system with:

  1. Intellinodes and other peripherals designed to read and control most alarm, deterrent, video and access control products available on the market as well as  interfacing many other items and performing many specialized functions.

  2. A data warehouse to control the backbone and to record and manage date and keep track of where and from where all the data is captured.

  3. Specialized servers to analyze the data and to present the information in user friendly formats.  The analysis may include algorithms from many suppliers using data from either their own sensors or from standard products e.g. biometrics like face recognition (standard video cameras) and fingerprint recognition (specialized sensor), license plate recognition (standard video cameras) etc.
